Domesticated Friday. Part Two.

In lieu of recent thoughts and realizations that I have been beating myself up over, I am still going to bring you all a delightful(ish) Friday post.

If you haven't noticed, I have upgraded my "Freebie Fridays" postings quite a bit. Instead of only posting free items, I have decided I would also post about food, well, because I eat and cook so damn much of it, and any projects I have finished during the week. I think that the latter half of the additions has motivated me to get more crafty.

For the freebie for this week, I am going to hook you up with a free sample of Kashi Cereal (or, if you're in Canada, click here ---> Kashi cereal.) If you signed up for the last Kashi freebie, you know that you'll probably want to sign up for this one, too. Last time, the cereal came in about two weeks, and it was much bigger than the usual free cereal sample. I was impressed by the size, speed, and obviously, the taste. My cat helped me devour the box of dry honey puffs. Yeah, my cat ate cereal with me. Whatever. This time, you can choose between Toasted Berry Crunch or Honey Almond Flax or a Fruit and Grain bar covered in dark chocolate and coconut. I opted for the Berry cereal, even though the fruit and grain bar looked damn good.

For food? Oh deer. I made peanut butter cookies. They were fantastic after coming out of the oven, and I froze half of them for a later time (because the recipe made like, 40) My only error with this I didn't realize until the next night when I went to mow down on about 15 cookies. I had tweaked a recipe I had for peanut butter cookies. The original recipe was for those ones that you put sugar on a fork and make a criss cross pattern. You know what I'm talking about. Well, I decided I didn't want the criss cross pattern, or the sugar, and that I would just dump a bag of peanut butter chips in there. I was craving a soft baked cookie overflowing with peanut butter flavor, and I didn't realize that I had followed a recipe that was specifically for crunchy cookies. I mean, it's not a huge deal, but I think I am going to have to make another batch this weekend, only super soft. If you like crunchy cookies, here are the deets:

Heat oven to 375 and combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter (one stick) 1/2 cup peanut butter, 2 tablespoons milk, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, a dash of vanilla and one egg. Mix it up all nice like. Next, slowly add 1 3/4 cup of flour. This step is kind of a bitch, because you are actually making a dough instead of a batter which you can drop onto a cookie sheet. Don't worry, you'll do fine if you ADD THE FLOUR SLOWLY. To make the cookies like I did, before adding in the flour, you'll want to pour a bag of peanut butter chips into the batter, then add the flour. If you want to make the criss cross cookies, roll the dough into one inch balls, sugar a fork, and make a criss cross pattern, which will flatten the cookie a bit. You're going to bake for ten to twelve minutes, or until golden brown. Because I added in the chips, the criss cross pattern would have been very difficult and ugly, so I just made one inch balls, and flattened with my hands. And voila! Even though they are much crunchier than I had intended, they were still fabulous, and I am psyched that I thought to freeze half of them for next week.

Okay, and finally, I will talk about this weeks projects. I have a few projects that are about a minute from finishing, but I need to get my little ass to a craft store to get the ribbon for the finishing touches. I don't want to show you all a bunch of unfinished projects, so those will have to wait until next week. But now, I have a new sort of project.

I like to call it "Project: Figure out what to do about dad" If you read my post from last night, you know I am at a loss, and actually ASKING for advice. This morning I woke up with thirty-six comments that were nothing short of a page long each. I love you all for all of your help.

20somethingbloggers had sent a bunch of you by here, as well as TKOG, and Lilu tweeted for me, so seriously? THANK YOU. My project this week (well, today)? Read and respond to all of these great comments. And, AND check out the blogs of all the awesome people who extended their advice. You're all great!

The Honey Almond Flax is delish! We get it as often as it's on sale or we have a coupon (or the double bonus of being on sale AND having a coupon!)

Thanks for the link!

Man- I couldn't eat more than 3 of those honey puff things. They tasted exactly like cardboard. Bummer city. My cats wouldn't touch them. ;)

It's really awesome that so many got sent over here for you, and even more, left really thoughtful comments. :)

His birthday was last Saturday? What did you end up doing?

I haven't posted my redec pics because they're just not as awesome as the real thing - I feel like it'll be a big letdown. My apartment is so basic. Ugh. But I'll put them up soon, I guess...since my public demands...

I've been working on a ribbed purple scarf, did I tell you that??? If you want the pattern, it's super-easy!
